Applicants should have a PhD conferred or completed by July 1, 2015 with an outstanding record in a PhD program in political science, public policy or economics. The successful candidate will have a background broadly in the field of public policy. Examples include political scientists within the fields of American, comparative or international politics with focuses on: the politics of policy design; policy implementation or effectiveness; or, micro-economists with a focus on regulation, firms, and social welfare. IR/PS has a special interest in candidates who can teach in a new and developing master’s in public policy (MPP) program while also contributing to the School's larger mission of teaching public policy with an international focus. For the appropriate candidate there may be opportunities to work jointly between IR/PS and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) for a UCSD campus-wide initiative on climate change adaptation, but that focus is not a requirement for the position. --
