The School of Social and Policy Studies at Flinders University has a position open for a Lecturer (Politics and Public Policy) – this is continuing position.
To provide an opportunity for an emerging leader in Politics & Public Policy to contribute to extending academic, research and organisational excellence within the School of Social and Policy Studies. The successful applicant will be a political scientist with expertise in public administration, in particular public sector management. His/her research and teaching will build on existing strengths of the School and s/he will have a commitment to understanding the nature of working and decision-making in the public sector.
Located in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences the School of Social and Policy Studies has an emphasis on student-focused teaching and imaginative scholarship about social and political worlds. Politics and Public Policy is one of four disciplines in the School, which also includes the disciplines of Social Work, Sociology, and Women’s Studies, all of which are renowned for their excellence in teaching, research and community service. The School has an active Honours and Research Higher Degree program; a number of adjuncts who contribute to the research environment; and a focus on producing research that is relevant to policy, industry and the community.
The appointee will be a political scientist with expertise in public administration, in particular public sector management, who will be:
§ Contributing to the development of the School’s research profile, including maintaining a strong publication record and successfully obtaining external research funding
§ Contributing to the University’s research effort and development of research capacity
§ Contributing to the effective development and delivery of the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs; including teaching domestic and international students.
§ Taking leadership in online teaching and learning, including course leadership.
§ Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of honours and postgraduate students.
§ Working effectively as a team member in the School
§ Taking on administrative responsibilities as required
§ Undertaking leadership roles within the Faculty, the University, or with external government, non-government and professional organizations.
§ Other activities as described in the University’s Academic Profile for Level B.
