The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship (full-time) Pay scale: 13 TV-L (East)

The appointment will be made for two years, starting January 1, 2014 with a working week of 40 hours. The post is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the framework of the Research Training Group on “Wicked Problems, Contested Administrations: Knowledge, Coordination, Strategy”. The Research Training Group studies the interrelationships between “wicked” policy problems and the development of administrative organizations, including inter- organizational settings. The research program is based on systematic interdisciplinary cooperation between political and administrative sciences, sociology and public management. Responsibilities

Applicants need to have experience in conceptual and theoretical approaches to public policy and public administration research. They are expected to conduct both a theoretically and methodologically advanced research project that falls within the framework of the overall research agenda of the Research Training Group. A strong interest in innovative approaches and research questions in administrative and organizational sciences is expected.

The Fellow will collaborate closely with colleagues working in the areas of administrative and organizational sociology, political science and public administration, and empirical social research. He/she is expected to offer innovative organizational and administrative research and provide teaching and mentoring in the context of the qualification program of the DFG Research Training Group. The language of instruction is English.

Preconditions

 Completed university education in political and administrative sciences, sociology or public management;  Special qualification for academic work, which is usually demonstrated through an outstanding PhD thesis;  Proficiency in English;  International experience, an outstanding publication record and teaching experience are advantageous.
