Crawford School is the Australian National University’s focal point for contributing to national public policy research, education and policy impact. ANU is located in the national capital, alongside the national parliament and federal government. This, together with the University’s long-standing reputation for excellence in research, education and policy debate, gives Crawford School high-level relationships with government and politics. Its graduate and executive educational programs have trained many of the region’s leaders, while its world-leading research has had a direct and demonstrated impact on national policymaking.

Public policy scholarship at Crawford School is characterised by high quality, policy-relevant research across a range of social science disciplines. Current areas of expertise include poverty and inequality, health and its determinants, gender and children, and democracy and development. The Policy and Governance Program analyses and advises on policy-making processes and governance, tackling major questions of politics, public management, public administration, policy implementation, and comparative government.

We seek to appoint outstanding early to mid-career scholars who are working on big policy challenges facing Australia, Asia and the world. We are especially interested in strengthening the School’s capacity in political science, political economy and public administration. Candidates whose work is explicitly comparative or cross-disciplinary are of particular interest. The successful candidates will have a track record of research in the field, demonstrated high quality teaching skills and a passion for learning and education. Appointees will be productive scholars, effective and committed teachers, and active contributors to Crawford School’s extensive policy engagement.
