The position will be research-intensive for the first five years of the appointment, i.e. the successful candidate will be required to convene and teach one course per annum at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level. After five years it will then revert to a standard academic profile which includes teaching, research and service.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan campus, Brisbane, Australia.

The role: The successful candidate will be expected to publish with the leading journals and/or book presses in the field, to teach in areas related to their specialisations in accord with the requirements of the School of Government and International Relations, and perform service roles with the School and the University.

The candidate appointed will be located jointly at the Griffith Asia Institute and the Centre for Governance and Public Policy and the School of Government and International Relations. In 2012 political science at Griffith University received the highest possible rating in the Australian government's research assessment exercise.

The person: To be successful in the role candidates must have:

   a doctorate in Political Science/International Relations or related field,
   an outstanding track record of publications in leading book presses and/or journals in the field;
   a track record of success in winning grants
   a program of research in political science (any sub-field);
   evidence of teaching excellence.

The preferred start date for the successful candidate is 31 July 2014.

Salary range: Professor, Level E: AUD $153,833 per annum. Salary package including 17% pension (superannuation) contribution: AUD $179,984 per annum.

Associate Professor, Level D: AUD $119,423 - $131,567 per annum. Salary package including 17% pension (superannuation) contribution: AUD $139,725 - $153,933 per annum.
